Our American Generation is a youth run think tank that facilitates research and offers policy proposals concerning social justice issues crucial to the future of our country.

So who exactly are the youth? Which American generation?

Anyone who identifies with the youth. Whether you're a hotshot high-schooler or a seasoned scholar, if you feel you are a part of this generation of young movers and shakers, OAG needs you. Here are three ways you can always get down with OAG:

1.Research--2.Leadership--3.Bloggin'

Research
by Allie SpurlockThe research process engages you(th) at three distinct levels; 1) application to research a particular social justice issue that needs reform, 2) the presentation of initial findings on our blog posts and in discussions with OAG staff, and 3) the circulation of research publications on our website in addition to hard copy. All research applications are sent to the executive board for approval. A cycle of engagement ensues once young publication readers apply to launch research projects of their own.

1) Campus Organizer
Want to start a chapter of OAG at your school? Want to organize OAG researchers and bloggers on your campus? This is a great way to get experience with a non-profit, and learn a lot about  community organizing.

2) Journalist for Justice
Want to blog about social justice, and get resume experience at the same time? You(th) that commit to write for the Takeover blog once a week for three months can take on our Journalist for Justice fellowship.

3) Outreach Fellow
OAG is trying to contact to more schools and social justice organizations in order to get more participation, and to be a beneficial part of the broader social movement. This requires online and in person outreach from people who are outgoing.

4) Event Coordinator
Event leaders will help us plan and promote events, such as our monthly social, film screenings, or potlucks. We are looking for someone who is creative, and can help make our events great, in addition to dreaming up new ones.

5) Your Idea
Want to be an OAG leader, but these positions don't interest you? Tell us your idea- we'd love to work with you.

The OAG blog, "The Takeover" is a place to reflect on the power of the youth as well as document social justice success and struggle.
The blog serves to strengthen the ties between youth, and a stage for creating evolutionary discussion. Everyone is encouraged to write for the blog, the more perspectives the better.
